4 hour Cabaret Workshop presented by Australia’s favourite cabaret duo
If you’ve ever heard the word cabaret and immediately thought of sequins or jazz hands … you’re not wrong. But cabaret is so much more than a flashy stage and catchy songs. It’s history, culture, conversation and entertainment all rolled into one glittery (and sometimes cheeky) package. It’s interactive. Unlike sitting silently in a theatre, cabaret invites you to laugh, clap, sing along, or even become part of the act.
Cabaret is all about expression, connection, and a little bit of mischief. As a student, it’s the perfect reminder that creativity doesn’t always belong in a lecture hall, and sometimes, it’s best enjoyed under a spotlight, with a drink in hand, and a performer making you laugh till your sides hurt.
The Cabaret Workshop is a wonderful opportunity for both emerging and established performers to spend time with Green Room award winning cabaret artists Melissa Langton and Mark Jones and take that next step towards developing your cabaret show.
In this 3 hour workshop we will talk:
How to Start Writing Your Cabaret
Script Writing for Cabaret
How to Choose Music for your Cabaret
Bring along your sheet music and your half written scripts and let’s start developing them and getting them up on their feet. This workshop is designed for no more than 6 - 8 participants so that we can give everyone’s shows the attention that they require!
Our goal is for you to be able to go away and be able to get cracking on your first draft!
