Kane Alexander is one of Australia’s most sought-after performers. He has performed all over the world, collected numerous awards, and signed an international recording deal with Sony Music.He is perhaps best known for the lead roles he has performed on the musical stage. These roles include Giorgio in Passion, Stone in City of Angels, Bobby Strong in Urinetown (Helpmann Award nomination), Claude in Hair, Willard in Footloose, the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz and Billy Crocker in Anything Goes. He also performed in the 10th anniversary production of Les Miserables, South Pacific, Angry Penguins, and Only Heaven Knows. In the USA, Kane appeared in Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens and An Evening with Jerry Herman, and has toured Australia in concert with the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2000, Kane took his cabaret show to New York and appeared at the Firebird Cafe and the legendary Algonquin Oak Room. In the 2001 New York cabaret awards, he was named “Best New Voice” in the Theatermania Cabaret List, and won both the BISTRO and MAC Awards for “Most Outstanding Debut”. In 2001, he was asked to perform at Rupert Murdoch’s 70th birthday party in New York, alongside Natalie Cole. After his return to Australia he was named a finalist in the 2001 Young Australian of the Year Awards, and nominated for a Mo Award for this performance in Footloose.
2006 saw the release of Kane’s debut self-titled album through Sony music. He also toured Australia supporting “popera” superstars Il Divo, and UK diva Katherine Jenkins, along with his own solo concerts in Sydney and Melbourne. In 2009, Kane travelled Australia with Tina Arena on her national tour, and in 2013 he toured Australia with Lisa McCune in Love....and All That Follows.
He has appeared in concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, The Australian Pops Orchestra, & The Queensland Pops Orchestra and regularly performs in concert with Silvie Paladino and Marina Prior. He also headlined Opera In The Alps in 2013.
Kane’s television appearances include Good Morning Australia, Denise, The Midday Show, Sunrise, The Today Show, In Melbourne Tonight, Carols by Candlelight, The Good Friday Appeal Gala, Perth Telethon, and The Footy Show, along with roles in Late for School, Neighbours, Water Rats, Blue Heelers and Stingers.
